About
The purpose of this web page is to help students learn and be able to recognize the different types of simple machines. This web page will help students identify simple machines, learn what force and work are, show students examples of simple machines, and help students learn how simple machines make work easier.
This site has been designed by D. Phillips for Mrs. Ruff’s 5th grade classroom at the Jackson-Mann School in Boston, Massachusetts. I am currently a student at Boston University getting two degrees; one in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the College of Arts and Sciences, and another in Mathematics Education from the School of Education. I am currently enrolled in a class titled ED101, which requires the building of this site and contributes to satisfying the Massachusetts licensing requirements for coursework in Educational Technology. I look forward to working with the students not only on simple machines but also on their math curriculum and general education. I would also like to thank Mrs. Ruff for having me in her classroom and contributing to my pre-practicum experience.
